Our expert lake guide will meet you at your hotel at the tour start time and transport you to the boat docks where our traditional long tail boat will be waiting to take you along the Tonle Sap river and explore the floating village (where everything floats). This floating village is home to over 6000 fishing people.

The unique nature of the great Tonle Sap means that everything out here floats, from schools to churches, shops, basked ball courts, and police stations. We will visit a floating fish farm on the way and then proceed further to the great Tonle Sap lake (the largest fresh water lake in South East Asia and the world's richest fresh water fishing lake). At the Tonle Sap Lake we dock with the large Tara Riverboat which is a floating restaurant and bar on the Tonle Sap lake. Here you will enjoy a full buffet and with all drinks included such as wine, cocktails, beers, spirits and soft drinks. After an excellent meal you can relax on the hammocks or get the best views of the sunset in the sunset restaurant area.

On the way back we will pass through the floating village one more time after the sunset and have you back at your hotel by 7.30pm. This is a very joyful tour, highly recommended if visiting Siem Reap.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about this tour.
  • Is Asia open for tourists?

Despite the initial fears of the Covid-19 pandemic, most Asian countries have managed to mitigate its effects. As such, many popular destinations throughout the continent are currently open for travelers with precautionary measures like mandatory vaccinations. A few countries, however, require newly arrived travelers to spend a couple of days in quarantine.

As of February 2022, countries like Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia are officially open for vaccinated tourists without the need for quarantine. Meanwhile, India and Indonesia are two of the countries that may require you to quarantine for up to a week on arrival. However, Japan, Vietnam, and Myanmar are yet to open their doors to visitors.

  • Is Cambodia a family-friendly destination?

Home to diverse settings and friendly people, Cambodia is fascinating for all ages. The colorful markets of Phnom Penh, the floating markets of Mekong and the Sangkae, and the Cambodian temples hidden in lush greenery will interest anyone. Cambodia’s rich culture, tragic war history, and selection of museums are intriguing for the family.

  • What is the best time to visit Cambodia?

The high season for tourism in Cambodia is from December to March. While Cambodia's weather is hot and humid all year round, it gets exceptionally hot in April and May. So, visiting the country during these months is not recommended. For additional information, check our post on the best time to visit Cambodia.

  • What is the currency of Cambodia?

Although Cambodian Riel is Cambodia's official currency, most transactions are in US dollars. Several ATMs in Cambodia's cities dispense both US dollars and Riel. While certain credit cards are accepted, cash is still the preferred payment method.

  • Is English widely spoken in Cambodia?

Cambodian Khmer is the most spoken language in the country. However, certain minority groups speak English. Most people in the tourist industry and affluent cities such as Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville can converse in English to a certain extent. Knowing a few local phrases would be helpful if you plan to explore the country's less-known areas.
